Belts should be replaced at least once or twice a year depending on usage to keep your vacuum running efficiently.
WHY replace if it's not broken? Some stretch belts must be stretched to almost twice their original length to be installed and must be very tight to turn the brush roll at the proper speed when vacuuming carpets. Belts lose elasticity over months of usage and begin to slip.
